Welcome to DeVaney Elementary School, Home of the Dragons!
I’m Michelle Nutter, and I’m entering my 15th year as principal of DeVaney Elementary. Welcome to our school family—I’m so grateful to serve this amazing community. It’s an honor to lead a school filled with dedicated staff, curious learners, and supportive families. Once a Dragon, always a Dragon!
At DeVaney, we believe in nurturing the whole child. Ours is an intentional journey to build a school where every child feels safe, connected, and eager to come to school. Being at school each day gives students the opportunity to learn, discover their talents, and build meaningful relationships. Here today, ready for tomorrow!
This year, we’re excited to begin our work in the High Reliability Schools framework—a research-based model focused on continuous improvement. Through collaborative teams and job-embedded learning, we’ll use student data, meaningful dialogue, and proven instructional strategies to meet each learner’s needs in real time. Together, we are poised to build a culture of shared accountability.
At DeVaney, we know that strong family-school partnerships make all the difference. Whether you’re new or returning, we look forward to working together to help your child thrive. Families are a child’s first teacher, and your voice matters.
Here’s to a joyful and successful school year!
Warmly,
Dr. Nutter
Principal

Please follow the directions of staff members directing traffic before and after school. Cars are expected to pull up along the curb as far as possible. By pulling up, we can get more cars into our drives and decrease heavy traffic on Brown and College Avenue. Guardians must also keep their cars running and remain in their cars. Also, students should be ready to get out once the car stops. Safety first! -
